KEEP THIS IN MIND

There is nothing more exciting than planning a remodeling project for your home, whether it's remodeling a bathroom, a makeover for your kitchen, or something as simple as a paint job for the exterior of your home. In order to complete your project with the highest level of satisfaction, there are a few things to keep in mind.

1. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT.  Before you become engaged in a remodeling project, know exactly what you want the finished project to look like.  If it's a bathroom remodel, decide on a color scheme. Determine if you want a shower and a tub, or just a walk-in shower. Determine the style of tile you want on the walls, as well as on the floor.  As you shop for selections, be careful what you choose. We recommend purchasing quality materials that may cost a bit more, but will last longer.  There's nothing worse than spending a ton of money on a remodel only to have to make repairs in the future, way before you should have to. Spend the extra dollars to get quality faucets and fixtures, as well as durable cabinetry and hardware.

2.  KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO. Remodeling projects can be an inconvenience, depending on the nature of the project.  Major remodels can take weeks to complete so it's important that you understand the time span of the project so you can take the appropriate steps to minimize your inconvenience. If your remodel includes removing existing ceramic tile, removing drywall or any project that requires major demolition, stay with a relative until it is recommended that you can safely move back into your home.  Or if you can afford it, get a room at a hotel. Demolition can create a mountain of dust that can be a health hazard if inhaled for an extended period of time. If you must remain in your home, use plastic sheeting and tape off an area in your home where you are isolated from the demolition area. Also, expect for your project to go beyond the expected completion time.  No matter how badly we, as your Contractor may want to complete a project on the assigned completion date, situations and circumstances happen that are beyond our control and this can cause delays.  It could be a delay caused by the weather, or a delay caused by a city inspection. There are a number of unexpected occurences that could cause a project to go beyond the due date.  Anticipate this and be prepared.

3.WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A GENERAL CONTRACTOR. When you hire the right General Contractor for your remodel, this can eliminate a lot of pressure and even stress that can come with a remodeling project. A General Contractor will manage your job and see it through to completion.  If you're doing a remodel that requires plumbing, electrical, hvac, drywall and painting, a General Conractor's team will include each of these trades, eliminating the need to go out and hire each trade, which is what you will have to do if you decide to go it alone, without a General Contractor. Hiring a General Contractor will definitely streamline the entire process and free you up to do other things.
